FAQs

What is a LightReach subscription?

A LightReach lease lets you go solar by swapping the upfront cost of buying and installing solar panels with predictable monthly payments. Palmetto owns, monitors, and maintains the system, and you get all the electricity. LightReach systems are designed to fit your home and energy usage and can deliver savings from day one.

Is it better to buy or lease solar panels?

Both buying and leasing solar panels have advantages, and you can do either with Palmetto. Buying solar panels typically delivers greater savings over the system’s 25-year lifespan, but comes with more responsibility for the homeowner and greater upfront costs. Leasing solar panels gets rid of the upfront cost and typically includes maintenance of the system, like with a LightReach subscription.

Where can I see my solar panels’ production?

If you have a Palmetto solar system, you can track your solar production in the Palmetto App.

Will I still get a bill from my utility? How much will it be?

If you remain connected to the grid like most people who go solar, you’ll still receive a bill from your utility. That bill covers the electricity you use when your solar panels don’t cover your home’s electricity demand. It will shrink as you buy less electricity from your utility. The amount of your electric bill will vary based on how much electricity you use overall, your solar panels’ production that month, and other factors, like your local net metering or net billing regulations. With a LightReach subscription, you’ll receive an electric utility bill and a LightReach bill.

What if my solar panels need maintenance?

For LightReach subscriptions, maintenance is included. We also proactively monitor systems to catch and fix problems, sometimes before you even notice.
